- Historical Gurdwaras darshan surrounding amritsar
1. Gurdwara Guru Ki Wadali :
Guru Arjan Dev left Amritsar with his family and entourage and settled at Wadali, 5 miles away, to avoid the daily bickerings and intrigues of Pirthi Chand. The villagers welcomed the Guru and gave a bricked Haveli for residence. Guru Hargobind Sahib incarnated at Wadali.
2. Gurdwara Sann Sahib :
The youngest son of Guru Angad Dev named Dasu, kicked Guru Amar Dass off his throne and asked him to leave Goindwal. Guru Amar Dass left Goindwal for Basarke and reaching there shut himself inside a house for quiet meditation. On the door he wrote, "Whosoever opens the lock of this door, I will not own him as my follower. Baba Budha broke open the house from the back side, without touching the lock on the front-door, fulfilled the command of the Guru in letter, if not in spirit. Thus he was able to see the Guru, who overwhelmed with his devotion, accompanied the Sikhs to Goindwal. The Gurdwara Sann Sahib stands on that place.
3. Gurdwara Tarn Taran Sahib Ji (Darbar Sahib) :
When Guru Arjan Dev went on a missionary tour to the Majha region, he chanced upon to see a huge pond near by the village of Khara. The surroundings were also very picturesque. The Guru bought some land from the villagers of Khara and Palasaur. Then he started the work of digging a tank 999 long and 996 broad. There he constructed a Gurdwara on the side of the tank. It is known as Darbar Sahib, Tarn Taran.
4. Gurdwara Goindwal Sahib Ji or Bauli Sahib :
Guru Amar Das caused a big Baoli dug at Goindwal as a first Sikh pilgrimage. He exhorted the Sikhs that taking bath here is more useful than taking bath at Hardwar. He constructed 84 steps to reach the Baoli (a large oblong tank) and instructed that whosoever takes bath repeating the Japji while sitting on these 84 steps one by one till the last step, is made free form the 84 lacs forms of species and enters heaven. A beautiful Gurdwara was built beside the Baoli.
5. Gurdwara Khadoor Sahib :
The place where Guru Angad Dev used to address the Sikh congregation, there stands Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. On the precincts of the Darbar Sahib stands a Karir tree which sprouted from the same pole of the Karir wood against which Guru Amar Dass's foot struck when he was bringing water for Guru Angad Dev to take bath and as a result he fell down.
6. Gurdwara Baba Budha Ji :
Gurdwara Bir Baba Budha is situated on the right side of village Thatha on the Amritsar Patti road. Baba Budha was a disciple of Guru Nanak. He lived from the period of Guru Nanak till the period of Guru Hargobind Sahib. He invested all the Gurus from Guru Angad Dev to Guru Hargobind Sahib in their high offices. He also used to take care of the Guru's cattle in the Bir (forest).
10.Gurdwara Tahla Sahib Ji :
This Gurdwara is constructed in the memory of Baba Deep Singh. Hear Baba Deep Singh fought with Jahan Khan. Here Baba's head was beheaded but Baba caught his head with his left hand and fought with his right hand and crushing the enemy reached Amritsar.
11.Gurdwara Sangrana Sahib Ji :
It is just two miles from Amritsar in the direction of Tarn Taran. Here it is stated that Mata Sulakhani caught the reins of the horse of Guru Hargobind Sahib and asked for the gift of child. When the Guru declined she gave the Guru the pen and inkpot to write the gift of a son. When Guru Ji tried to write one (1), the Guru's horse lifted its leg and due to disturbance (1) converted into (7) seven. Mata Sulakhani gave birth to seven sons.
12. Gurdwara Chhehrta Sahib :
Guru Hargobind Sahib was born in the village of Wadali. To celebrate the occasion Guru Arjan Dev dug up a very huge well near the village. The well is so huge that on it worked six Persian wheels and it solved the problem of water scarcity. A Gurdwara was built alongwith the well which is known as Chheharta Sahib.
